I have two older computers I am piecing together into one browsing and old gaming pc. I also will use the computer for light Gopro video editing. Which CPU-Core 2 Duo 3.0Ghz vs Core 2 Quad 2.33Ghz- would be best all other things being equal?

8gigs Ram
1 TB 7200rpm hdd
HD 7770 Video Card

Thanks.

Use the Quad. Most modern triple A titles can use 4 CPU threads or more and will fare much better on it.

Older or less demanding games (that only use 2 cores) will obviously have better performance with the duo, but performance on the quad will still be good.

If you're so inclined, you could even bump the frequency of the quad a bit.

another option would be to sell both and pick up something around a Q9450 or Q9550 off ebay.

cheers!
