specs: asus x99 pro
cpu intel 5820k 3.3ghz w/corsair h100i liquid cooler
ddr4 gskill 2666 ram 4x4 quad kit
MSI amd R7 250 2gb gpu
Samsung ssd 250gb (windows boot drive)
Western Digital 2tb HD for file storage
Seasonic M12 II 750 watt psu
Corsair 760T white case
Windows 8.1 64bit
This is my first Intel build, previous amd fan with Phenom II x4 and last was amd 8350 8 core cpu. Intel always stated to be just a little faster and better than amd. Yes, opinions will vary. Here's my issue.
In bios, my ram shows running at 2133mhz, which I understand will run at stock for my bios. There is one xmp profile for the 2666mhz speed. When I choose that and f10 save and reboot. My 5820k throttles down to 2.9mhz speed. It was my understanding 5820k was rated at 3.3ghz at stock setting. Ram does run at the faster 2666 speed correctly. I'm just using EZ tuner and not advanced mode to overclock yet. I never overclocked on my own before, and unsure if have faulty cpu or motherboard or what. I also have ASUS AI suite 3 installed.
Also have latest bios updated to bios 1004.
Any help or advice would be grateful. Newbie in every sense of the world.
