Does it matter what PCI slot I install my GPU into?

I have a p8z77-V mobo and I installed my 970, however, I installed it into the third pci slot. Does this matter? Will it affect performance? Thankyou!

If you are talking about the bottom black slot then yes it will reduce performance as that slot only runs at 4x. For full performance the card needs to be installed in the top blue slot. You could use the white slot, it will run at 8x and the performance loss will be small almost unnoticeable if running at pci-e 3.0 more will be lost if its only at 2.0.
