I have 4 4GB sticks of Ripjaws 1600mhz ram and an asus z87a mobo with Intel 4790k processor, I got the processor about a week ago and so I updated the bios on the mobo otherwise it wouldn't have beven able to run the 4790k, but then 2 ram slots stoped working. If I put any ram into the 3rd or 4th slot (next to each other) the pc boot cycles continuously. All 4 ram sticks work fine in the 2 working slots and all 4 worked together fine before the bios update, I have tried increasing voltage without success but I doubt that is it considering the pc boot cycles even with only 1 ram stick in a bad slot. I find it unlikely that dust or something got into those 2 slots rather coincidentally but I blew them out anyway without success. I have put in my new processor but the same problem occurred with the old cpu so I think I can rule out cpu and bent pins. The only thing I can think of is the new bios has a compatibility issue with my ram but that doesn't explain why only 2 slots stopped working. Never the less I tried the next bios version earlier and still nothing. Unfortunately I can't revert to original bios because that doesn't support the 4790k nor do I know what version it was. And suggestions other than getting a new mobo?
