o yesterday which was a tuesday, i bought a graphics card Nvidia GeForce 512mb

i open the pc's case and installed (it doesn't require a power cable), closed the case, plugged it to the display wire,

after i turn the pc on, my screen appears black but the flashing button that indicates the connection of the screen to the compter is on and green, i hear the fan of the graphics card spinning, the motherboard is on...

i tired to remove the display wire from the graphics card and place it again in the integrated graphics (with the Nvidia still installed) same problem unless this time the screen is off with flashing light orange...

i removed the graphics card, my computer then boots just fine like wise.

soo i could really use some help with this.

specs:

ram: 1GB

processor: dual 3GHZ

Module: HP compaq dc7100

PS: it's an alt computer...

HP is problematic with any card that is not on their "approved list". And that model PC is one that always shows up in 'gfx card won't work' forums.
You might try entering BIOS at boot and making sure that PC doesn't still have an older BIOS that requires you to manually choose integrated video or discrete video.

Because your PC is a pre-built computer, in a lot of cases, many pre-built computers do not allow any additional hardware to be swapped due to warranty and the nature how pre-built manufacturer sets up the computer and bios. Your only hope now is to go into bios and fish for options like "PCI-e adapter" and see what it says. Usually its either "onboard gpu" or "PCI-e" and try to force the settings to PCI-e. If that doesn't work then try within windows display adapter settings and force hardware detection. If that doesn't work then you just wasted your money on getting a hardware that won't work on prebuilt.
