I've upgraded my GPU to a GTX 970, I needed a new adapter VGA to DVI because I've got an incredibly old monitor, but when I try to launch games like CS-GO or BF4 the screen goes black with a red warning saying "monitor is out of range", how do I fix this?
My monitor is a ViewSonic VE702m

Was seeing if 640*480 would at least get started then set the game's resolution as high as your monitor will allow, exit and save. Next time you run it normally, hopefully its ok.

For 59Hz if that makes a difference will find this option in Nvidia's Control Panel > Resolution,

or Windows Resolution > Advanced Settings > Monitor.

Reference to Windows 7. Other OS might differ a little but generally these settings are in the same places.

ok, out of range is a problem with either resolution or hz.

The games seem to be running in a higher resolution and the monitor can't display it. Launch compatibility mode of the game, may have to create an icon for the game and run in 640*480. See if you can set the resolution to your screen and try again normally.

Thanks, I'll give it a go

Update: Thanks, this works for games but the resolution makes everything huge, do you know how I can keep it at 59hz but still at 1280 x 1024?
