hello, My motherboard is an ASUS P8H61-M LE/CSM and my CPU is a Core i5 3470. I recently bought Kingston HyperX FURY 8GB (2x4GB) 1600MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM RAM and after installing it my computer would not start up/load BIOS, despite there being power. I then took one stick out, and she booted up perfectly fine. So, will I be able to get both sticks to work or did I buy the wrong type of RAM?. Please let me know what I did wrong

Solution
Do you have the latest BIOS? Best to get that, if you already have it, start with 1 stick , raise DRAM voltage to 1.565 or so, save, exit, shutdown, add second stick and give it a try
It's dual channel - http://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/P8H61M_LECSM_R20/specifications/ so it shouldn't have had 6gb ram at all. Your 2 x 4gb should work OK as long as its in the right dimm slots (per mobo manual) and the slots are clean.

If still not working, test with memtest.

Thanks for the reply, I was actually just thinking about updating BIOS earlier today! I have never done it yet so there will definitely be one. Ill give that a shot and get back to you..

thanks I will re-read the manual and see, but the original computer that I started out with had 6 gigs of ram already, I just never upgraded it until now.

happy new years. thanks again for your help. It turns out that one of the sticks is faulty (doh!) :ouch: I should have realized this a while ago. One final question though, would I be able to use the working HyperX stick with my old 4gb stick. Im guessing that it is a no, but I would like to be sure.
