System wont boot after being powered off

i have a lenovo ideacentre k230 5359-3au desktop. i do not see an external cmos on it. every time i power it off it will not boot unless i go through a system recovery. sometimes even to get to that menu i have to reseat the ram. i have tested each ram stick in every slot all at once and 1 at a time always the same thing. the most recent time i got a pop up that said cmos fail ..............
not sure what else it said as it popped up then back down. how do i replace a cmos on this motherboard? (i can not find a model number just says lenovo vo.21) or is my mobo bad?

(also tried another hdd and same issue)

They don't have a BIOS update for your mobo - so no way to "reflash" the BIOS....Try contacting Lenovo support at: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/supportphonelist_alt1

i called lenovo and they said they dont even know what mobo is in this machine because its an old machine and i was on my own

just a shot in the dark here but try removing the cmos battery for a few minutes with the unit powered down and the psu turned off.i would even go so far as to replace the battery.

as the original post says i see no external battery for cmos. Therefore i can not test nor replace

the battery should be on your motherboard,a little smaller than a quarter.

i know what a cmos battery is and what it looks like (usually model cr2016 or cr 2032 or something similar) but this Mobo does not have one externally or it is on the under-side facing the case.

are you running integrated graphics or do you have a dedicated graphics card?if its the latter the cmos battery is likely hidden by the graphics card.trust me you have one,its just a matter of finding it.

i have a dedicated card and have replaced it more than once its not under it google my mobo i dont see one

whats your mobo #?i googled your model # but cant find a pic or location for the battery,but if you can find it i think its your problem.

there is no mobo number on the mobo I called Lenovo and they couldn't even give me a model number. I was sure myself that it was the cmos but the lack of one makes it hard to test. my pc model is Lenovo k230-5359-3au
