My new CPU cooler covers Ram dimm A1. So I moved my 2x8gb sticks to A2 and B2. And it doesn't work.

What is a proper configuration without using DIMM A1?

HELP ASAP

What specific cooler and DRAM are you using? Have you tried the same slots, but switching sticks?

A2 and B2 are usually the recommended slots for two stick dual-channel. You could try running them in B1/B2, but you'd only get single-channel access.

You and the others have it right on which slots Ram pairs up. I never realized the letter till recently :)
I always just knew to alternate sticks, probably from back when they were color coded

My MOBO actually recommends using A2 and B2 first, As volcanoScout mentioned below, it states they have priority. But not essential.

If you have changed BIOS settings or overclocked, I recommend restoring defaults in BIOS Or clearing the CMOS.

I Also think you may want to reconsider how much benefit that cooler is.

It is very likely backwards, or you have a small MOBO.

And when you say it doesn't work.
What is it doing that it is not supposed to do OR what is it not doing that it should be doing?
does it crash before booting, randomly crash....?
Would love to Help,
Give us more info, and we will try to help.

MOBO model and cooler model, as they have asked. and IDK if you can post pics here.
Ram could be important, but If it worked before...
But check, might as well hit slots A2&B2 with canned air, If PC is older and you never used those slots.

I'd like to help and I am sure they would as well.
