CPU Cooling, Fan Push/Pull air set up + Enough Space in my Case?

Hi,

I want to get a Cooler but the ram clearance is an issue. Is it okay if I take off the fan closest to the Ram and move it to the other side, closest to the back of my case.

I am looking at the Cryorig R1 Ultimate cooler and have a Gigabye GA-990fxa Ud3 in a NZXT phantom 530 case

Thanks

The h5 is the new kid in town & looks really really good - its not made it over to the UK yet so I have no experience of it.
I've looked at 2 reviews & on both it only slightly overhangs 1 ram slot so I don't see where you've got the idea it will overhang 3 (massively unlikely as the hs itself is virtually the same size as the 212 & noctua.
No mate - that would make it pointless buying that cooler as it would massively impact performance.
Its a push pull cooler but the front 'push' fan does 80%+ of the actual work.
How many ram stick do you have ??
If 2 sticks & you use slots 1 & 3 (1 being nearest the hard drive cage) theccooler should fit.
Pretty sure it only extends over slot 4.

I have 2 sticks of RAM. In a video, the cooler hungover 3 ram slots and i have heat sinks on my RAM so I guess it won't fit. I was looking at the cryorig h5 as an alternative. Thoughts on if it will successfully keep my temps low?

Also i am wondering. My fx 8350 is running at 70 Celsius and has max voltage of 1.425 using the Rosewill Z1. Is that expected with this quality of cpu cooler or is something wrong with the preapplied thermal paste?

That rose will is rubbish mate - as bad or maybe worse than the amd stock one.
& those temps are dangerously high for an fx chip.
My advice - 212 evo - cheap - only overhangs 1 ram slot.
With an 8350 at stock it will sit below 55c guaranteed at full load.
Pita to fit ( you will likely have to remove your motherboard) but worth the effort & a bargain buy IMO.

ehh i shouldve researched more about coolers before i bought one

Yes, ive heard of the cm 212 evo a lot and i thank you for the recommendation, but I like the H5. Since the H5 performs on the level of the Noctua nh-u12s, is that good enough for my cpu?

Oh no sorry, I meant the R1 Ultimate was overhanging 3 ram slots not the H5. Anyway since you seem to agree with the H5 choice I will go with it! Any idea what would be a good fan to put on the "pull" side of the H5? Otherwise thanks!!!

You will not need a dual fan looking at the reviews mate - it does look an insanely capable cooler.
Get it first & see how it performs - if you must go push/pull then a ac f12 pwm fan will allow you a plug through connection to both fans & run at the same speed from the CPU fan header.
Got to say it looks good - they even offer a printable cut out origami style template on their webpage to ensure it will fit before you buy.
That's a new one on me but a cracking idea

Just an update. After 3 years. H5 universal was a great choice. Set up is a bit difficult because the screws are deep in the fan so its hard to line up the screws to the CPU/mobo. Used it on both the i7 6700k and AMD fx 8350 and fan is barely noticeable. Just a low hum. Rarely ramps up and temps sit around 24 Degree Celcius with HWiNFO idle. Playing games it's goes up of corse but still unnoticeable, idk what the temps are tho because its been a while since I've used HWinfo while playing, since I didnt see teh need to anymore.
