Destiny game on PS3

Hi all, i know this is a console question but i need to know.

the game destiny specifies that it takes 20GB on the ps3 hdd but will not work on the newest ps3 console as is only has 20gb.

my question is would it work if i add a hdd for example a 250gb or 500gb. it doesnt specify that i will or wont work with an added hdd. can someone please help/

I would think putting in a larger hdd should work. Id just grab a 500gb and put it in they are running for what $50?
Edit: Almost forgot you may need some sort of bracket to hold the hard drive in Not sure as I am no ps3 expert and no longer have one to see.
