AMD FX-6300 Temperature Monitoring Issue

Hello there! I have bought this amazing FX-6300 3,5 GHz Black Edition Processor on my new GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 motherboard. I am using the stock cooler and I also have to say that my system fan isn't working because the wire of my HP case is too small :(
Which temperatures are the most reliable? The one on EasyTune6 (it came on a disk with my motherboard but I heard it could be faulty) or the one on AMD OverDrive which is WAY lower than the initial one. I tend to think that EasyTune6 shows a false temperature and that the CPU thermometer isn't alright, any help? Here are the screenshots with the temperatures:
EasyTune6 (Idle) http://prntscr.com/5n9k2s
AMD OverDrive (Idle) http://prntscr.com/5n9kil

Any help is welcome, thanks!

Yes, either of those extensions will work fine.

You are better off watching (core) thermal margins than core temps with the FX-6300. And your MB reads load temps better than idle temps, not the other way around. Video rendering is probably running the CPU at or near 100% usage. So 68C, while warm, is not dangerous. But compare that with the TM. As long as you have double digit TM remaining, it's fine. Even if it took the TM all the way to zero, the CPU would simply 'throttle' to save itself and lower its performance thus dropping temps. At least in theory.

First, you are confusing core temps with Core thermal margins. AOD displays thermal margins; the distance left til throttle. That is the best way to monitor temps on an FX-xxxx processor and APU. AMD has a problem with accurate temps at idle.

At load, you want to keep the TM in the double digits if possible.

You can pick one of these up to extend your fan cable: http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-FAN4EXT12-Power-Extension-Cable/dp/B0058DN7B8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420145773&sr=8-1&keywords=case+fan+extension+cable
It will work for either 3 or 4 wire fans.

I now understand the difference between the thermal margin and the socket temperature. I am just worrying because when I render a video, my processor goes crazy on easytune6 and reaches even 68 degrees (C). I read that it's hard for my motherboard to read the temperature when on heavy load. Is there any way to actually read this temperature accurately? Thank you, you are being very helpful :D
And also, my system fan has 3 pins and not 4. Can I find an extender for this?

Would this do? http://www.amazon.co.uk/SODIAL-Female-Extension-Power-Cable/dp/B00L312UO4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420148320&sr=8-1&keywords=fan+power+extension

Can't hurt. But its benefit will depend on the case you have and if there is any other fan(s) in the system.

It will to an extent but it shouldn't make too much of a difference.
