"Ethernet" doesn't have a valid IP configuration (HELP)

I don't know what it means and I need to know how to fix. tried restarting pc, and rebooting my router. Could somebody please assist in telling me what needs to be done to rectify this problem, and if there any screenshots that would be helpful in me taking to help diagnose the issue?

wired, it's strange because my laptop connects perfectly fine using wi-fi, but my desktop pc doesn't :S

It works wired through xbox 260 and xbox one, works fine on laptop and phone using wifi. just doesn't connect using wired to my pc...

I'm using a powerline adapter, with my pc, xbox 360 and xbox one all from the same power box. Changing the ethernet cable that I was using to connect to my pc but no change.
