Resolution incorrect on my Lenovo Ideapad. Shows 1920x1080 selected, but gives me 1280x720.

As it says in the title; My Lenovo Ideapad laptop won't use the correct resolution when I attempt to change it. Currently I have 1920x1080 selected, but the actual resolution given is 1280x720 (checked with whatismyresolution.com). Any idea what causes this and how this can be fixed?

Also, every other resolution is incorrect and actually gives a lower resolution than selected, not just the 1920x1080p one. And yes, my laptop screen is supposed to support 1080p FHD.

Tried updating graphics drivers and fiddling with settings in the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel - nothing has helped. The laptop is running internal Intel graphics.

Sometimes that page is buggy, is actually showing 854x480 in my latop right now, but my desktop does says the right resolution. If you can, play a youtube video in fullscreen, then right click it and select "view nerd stats" It will show your screen resolution as well as the video one. Check it there, and tell me if it says 720p or 1080p
 
if 1920x1080 is selected under resolution that is what it i running, usually if there is a glitch you get options to raise the resolution way higher than normal and it does not let you change it at all.

check your gpu driver as well

It says 720p, my resolution is definitely 1280x720p as all the games/windows I open appear far too big on my screen for it to actually be 1920x1080 :/

Did your laptop come with this problem, or has it happened recently? Maybe the cause has to do with an incorrect driver update

It started acting like this recently. I am not sure what caused it really as to my memory I didn't do anything special or perform any updates before it happened.

I just updated my graphics drivers to no avail as well. The laptop has internal intel HD graphics.

Maybe not yourself, but windows update may have downloaded an update for the GPU that was corrupted. Please check if you can update manually your drivers, and if you have the latest version, check if you can revert the GPU update and see if that helps.

I doubt the GPU was updated by Windows as I just updated it myself as I said, and the driver version before I updated was dated 2013. I got the laptop in 2014. I just updated it manually so reverting it wouldn't do anything. :/

Bumping my thread (hope that's allowed... didn't see anything against it in the rules).
So far I have tried updating my graphics drivers and fiddling around with the display settings and the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel. Still nothing has changed. Any pointers or ideas about how to fix this is greatly appreciated!
 
thats very strange I swear I had a similar problem like this on one of my work lenovos.

I would call lenovo and see what they say.


could you try removing the graphics driver and rebooting to see if it somehow loads the basic windows video driver?
