Hello, I am trying to update my BIOS by using ez flash. However, it keeps on saying "selected file is not a proper BIOS". I am unable to the update via windows 7 due the OS crashing. I downloaded the most current update and my usb flash drive is FAT32 format. So what is the problem? Thanks

Make sure it's a blank stick FAT32 format and then unzip the file onto the stick then rename the file to Z97(bios #).rom, has something to do with name length. Make sue you first reset the bios to it's default settings and reboot. Go back into bios and save and reset, then put stick in just before system reboots. then go to tools and easy flash and select renamed file. Then cross your fingers because flashing a bios is always risky. And should only be done if absolutely necessary. Good luck.

I had already extract the files. So basically don't bother updating the bios because it's too risky? I was thinking maybe the current update would help my Win 7 issue. I built a new computer and used my old hdd's(about to replace the raptor with a ssd). However, I am receiving the BSOD and it keeps on rebooting. If updating the BIOS will not resolve the problem I will have to purchase Win 8.1(unfortunately) since I do not have a copy of Win 7(free upgrade from Win Vista in 2009)

Great and glad you worked it out. but updating a bios won't help a software problem only a hardware one. And on a new build windows 7 cannot be transferred from an old computer. sorry, but you will like windows 8.1
