Can I use two different, yet same types of ram for my color-oriented build?

So with my gskill 16gb 2400mhz ddr4 ram (whew) I have 4 black modules on the asus rampage 5 extreme (x99) and I have 4 open spaces. If I wanted to buy more ram down the line, would it work if I got the same gskill ram, but with a red heatsink? I just want to be absolutely sure before I stick something in the system. The answer will probably be yes because they are the same modules, but would it be different if i opted into getting a higher frequency?

Yes, it can work, as long as it is the same model, the color changes nothing. If you want a higher frequency, there may be some troubles like games or apps randomly crashing on you. But nothing that can really damage the PC.
