Im new to building pc's and 4 days ago all my parts arrived and i built the PC, but when i was installing the heatsink that came with thermal paste pre applied on the bottom, i put it on the wrong way (wrong way meaning the latch wasnt able to go down and lock it) so i took it off for a few seconds and then placed it the other way then it latched into place. im wondering though cus ive been using the pc for 2 days now and have been playing alot of games on it and i can hear one of the fans in my case sound like its working hard and im wondering if it is the cpu fan overheating because of air bubbles from the thermal paste. Should I take the heatsink off and apply some more thermal paste or am I fine.

Solution
I wouldnt worry mate, air bubbles are very very uncommon,if its a stock fan its going to be somewhat noisy anyway
what cpu is it??
you can download prime & hwinfo64 & do a check just to make sure temps are in check ,if they are I would not worry

are you using amd or intel?? stock fans tend to be really stressed and would make a lot of noise especially amd stock fans because they are having a hard time cooling the cpu.. it is also better if you clean and reapply thermal paste just to make sure..

I would use the benchmark from CPU Benchmark (passmark software) it just gave me a score of 11258 for my CPU, which is average. It also informed me that my temp was 6 degrees below maximum under load, which I consider pretty high... My solution was re applying thermal paste, but I was a lazy idiot and forgot to remove the old gunk. I would definitely just re apply it to be safe, it wouldn't hurt you in my opinion. Might cool your CPU by a couple degrees, too.

The preapplied thermal paste can be junk sometimes... I bought some artic silver 5 and it seemed to of fixed my temp problems I was having (65 degrees idle) I am now at 55, which is still a little warm but oh well.

Edit: you can use rubbing alcohol to remove the paste.
