Hi there,

I want to buy a NVIDIA GTX970 for my pc, but I'm not sure If this cart will fit on my motherboard.

I opened up my pc, and I found out there was a Nvidia gt635 in it. Also an ssd was found on my motherboard.
With the program CPU-Z I found out my motherboard is a MS-7848(I can't find this one on the internet).

So my question is: will this cart fit on my motherboard without having the problem that the cart will be touching my ssd?
I hope someone knows how to look up rare motherboards.

If you need more information or specifications, let me know.

Thanks.

Sorry for my bad English.

Solution

For gaming, the motherboard and case are very important. Even if the card fits on the motherboard, both that, the case and power supply will have trouble coping.
Here are some recommendations:

I'm using the case that I've bought with the computer, it was a prebuild pc and I don't know the case. But I think there is enough space for a new GPU and a new power supply. Isn't there a chance the GPU wil have collission against my motherboard components?

What are you planning to do with your pc? Could you tell me what parts you have?

I'm planning to play games on a higher frame rate and also play them on a oculus rift.

My parts are:
motherboard: MEDION MS-7848
CPU: I5 4440, 3,10 GHz
RAM: 8GB
HDD 2TB
SSD 24GB (located on top of my motherboard)

You seem to be right. You'll have a hard time fitting even entry level parts (for gaming in) due to limited space, I have experience with pre-built cases and parts inside them. Get a branded motherboard with the 1150 socket (intel) and a mid-tower pc case. I can recommend some, but first I need to know your budget

Do I need to buy a newer motherboard? Isn't there a way the cart will fit on my current motherboard?
If I have to buy a new moteherboard, do I also need to buy a newer case?
