My laptop has completely slowed down and will not load Internet and takes for ever to load any programmes my battery does not take a charge either would this be the issue as I have it plugged in to socket full time for a while now

Solution
Sounds like you have too much loading at startup. Firstly, check that your hard drive isn't more then 80% full as this will slow things down. Then run a System Cleanup. Then remove all unwanted programs. Then have a look at what is loading at startup - and disable anything you're not regularly using. It is this final step that will likely make the speed difference.

Standard upgrades for a laptop are maxing out the RAM, and replacing the HD with an SSD - if you've not done these laready, they will make for a really big speed improvement, especially the SSD
