is my card and processor enough to run dual monitors?

hello. i currently have a pre-built computer. it contains an amd a8- 5500 and an amd radeon hd 7560d. i am looking to upgrading from my 20 inch to a dual monitor display of 24 inches. i have found a good deal on ebay that i'd like to pick up quick but i first need to know if i can run dual monitors smoothly. my computer seems to only have one VGA port in the back and one DVI.

Of course Windows will work with that configuration and dual monitors. I was running 4 monitors (CRTs) off a Socket 7 with 256MB of RAM and Windows 98. The video card was a 32 bit PCI Matrox 200 MMS, IIRC.

The question is if Your setup will work with a given game at some frame rate. I can not amswer that.

and why is that? is there a simple cheap upgrade or adapter that i could use to enable dual monitors?

Well you could replace the GPU. Here's a GTX 750 Ti that's relativity cheap: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487025. Don't forget to download the drivers. :)

would a 300w power supply suffice for that? im being supplied by christmas money so if i got that driver i wouldn't be able to get the dual setup deal. should i get the deal and then just use one monitor until i can upgrade the GPU?

Yeah because I think if you upgrade the GPU to that I think you would need like a 450w PSU. It's okay if you do single monitor for now.

thank you for the info! wouldn't a VGA to DVI adapter fix that problem? and its not just a problem of being able to hook them up. would i be able to run them smoothly? im not looking for anything more than 1080p.

The adapter won't help. It's not that VGA can't display 1080p but that the quality begins to drop. You have to use a very good quality cable for 1080p. And the only way I know that you can test it is to try it yourself. It's pointless to run 1080p if it's blurry.

well for regular browsing of the internet, watching videos in only 720p, etc, will the second monitor be okay for now? will i notice a difference if i don't use it for gaming? i was planning on only using one monitor for gaming anyways.

It will do good at 720p. It might do good at 1080p too. You'll just have to test it out and see how things go.
