Just bought a samsung 8550, cable box works normally, however my gaming rig via the gtx970 hdmi out doesn't work past the windows logo on bootup. I get a black screen, then the tv says there is no signal. I've swapped HDMI cables and ports, all ports and cables work with the cable box normally. Not sure what the problem is. PC was working perfectly fine on my previous monitor.

No. There are four hdmi ports, Cable is in #1, tested 2,3,4 with the PC. I have an asus Motherboard, I boot normally all the way to the black windows 7 logo with that floating dots effect, then nothing after that.

HDMI cable taken out of the new tv and put into the older tv I used as a monitor and works fine. Take that same cable and put it back into the new tv, nothing.

The TV will show a display of the computer in Safe Mode. Nothing else though. All the HDMI ports function normally with Bluray and Cable.

PC boot in normal mode = no display.
PC boot in safe mod = display, im using it right now. I've no idea what to do haha.

Yes, it updated and said there are no drivers available and that I am currently using the latest. However, I did not try loading firmware via usb. Outside of that, I cannot think of anything else that could be the problem. Maybe the firmware from the wireless update is faulty, and a direct upload via a usb stick would fix it. Dont know but will try and report back. $2900 tv, thanks for nothing samsung. >.>

Ive been speaking to them for hours, nobody has ever heard of anyone plugging a normal tv into a computer. Nobody ever heard of someone plugging a tv into a gpu to use a monitor before. I've baffled experts at Samsung with this idea...that there are people who dont buy "pc monitors" and instead use normal tvs as their monitor.

Oh well at least try to check your PC out -

In Safe Mode, try a Computer Repair. If that doesn't work, try a Last Known Good Configuration (System Restore)

If that doesn't work, do a DiskCheck with repair and a virus scan eg avast, malwarebytes.

And have a good look through the TV manual to check you've missed nothing. Smart TVs often seem to be dumb TVs.

Disk Error Check needs to run in normal mode on reboot, which I cannot get to. It will not run in safe mode, so a check cannot be performed. No virus's or malware found.

A lot changed in the past few hours. I randomly stumbled across this, how? Idk, its a miracle. My Bluray player is set to HDMI4 and I plugged the 970 into port 4 while it was marked as Bluray. It displayed the desktop starting in 4k res. I dropped it down to more like 2600 so my eyes didnt explode trying to read.

If I dip below 1920x, the display goes black. The tv is not recognized by windows 7 sound, meaning the speakers dont show up in the playdevice window. My USB Dac audio works, and the speakers work with the cable and bluray player. I've just experienced flickering, the display loosing signal a few times here on port 4 marked as bluray, when I moved the hdmi cable to another port I instantly lost signal. Plugged back into port 4, display came back on.

I have no idea wth is happening here or why. Samsung support is useless, Geforce also has no idea what the problem is and both blame each other.

Hey sinty,
According the product manual, you should be connecting the pc to HDMI port 2 nevertheless I also went through a similar issue with the displays, first when I hooked it to a 46" LED TV and later when I connected it to 2 desktop LCD monitors. Is it possible for you to detail your full system specs?

hdmi 2 does not function with my desktop, only hdmi4 functions with it and only if it is set to bluray.

My pc rig?

win7 64bit
i5 4670k
asus z87a mother board
msi gtx970
corsair 750w
liquid cooling system
12gb sniper series ram

running on the samsung 8550 65 inch 4k led tv model. The only method ive found to get anything to work with this computer and this tv together is hdmi4 labeled as Bluray. I lose signal as soon as I change that title to anything else, its supposed to be PC, or DVIpc and both instantly lose the signal. Swapping the hdmi cable into port 2 or 3 results in instant signal loss that never returns.

Port 1 is in use and for the cable box, port 2, 3 and 4 all function normally with my actual bluray player and cable box. Again though, Gtx970 > 8550 tv = no signal unless its plugged into HDMI4 and given the title of Bluray.

Nothing makes a lick of sense. Samsung support never heard of this problem. They all say its a gpu issue, but the gpu plays normally on any other display I hook up to it and has for some time. And its working right now as I type this, however I am experiencing brief signal loss a few times per hour. The Tv speakers do not function with the pc, the pc doesn't recognize the tv at all in sound. Thankfully, I am able to use my usb dac to my bookshelf speakers for sound. Tv speakers function normally through cable box and bluray player.

*Shrugs* Im overly stressed :p
