Hello. I am posting here to get help with a problem that has just recently started up, but it is getting annoying fast... and slowing me down.

My computer (Windows 7) will randomly "hang" -- I am unsure if this is the correct term, but let me explain further. Let's say I notice that this "hanging" is occurring... if I open up some sort of program, or a simple photo... nothing will happen. The photo will finally open and the system will get caught up after a random amount of time (usually about 15 seconds from what I have noticed)

This happens on all programs, no matter what it is. If I'm on Chrome and open a new tab, the tab won't actually load and be functional until this "hang" is over.

I really do not know where to start to fix this problem as I have no idea what is causing it. The only thing I have checked is my boot drive, and no errors were found.

Any help would be appreciated... thanks in advance. I will provide any information that may be helpful.

CPU: AMD FX-8350
MOBO: ASRock 970 Extreme4
MEMORY: G.skill (2 x 2GB, 2 x 4GB) (12GB total, DDR3)
GRAPHICS: Radeon 7950

It just might be Google Chrome.

I had a similar issue last month, with frequent hangs, and slow boots. It also kept coming up as Shockwave plugin crashes. I finally totally reloaded Windows 7 for a clean install, and all the issues went away. I also switched back to Firefox as my browser. After the reload, it really felt like a new PC! Was some work, but totally worth it.

Sadly, I have already ran CCleaner to try to fix the problem. I have also ran Malwarebytes, and ADWCleaner... all to no avail.

The main drive is an SSD. Is it necessary to defragment one? I heard it hurts more than it helps, but I'm willing to do anything at this point to fix the problem.

Okay. I didn't think defragging an SSD was a good idea. TRIM is, and has been enabled. What could I do as a next step to figure out this issue?

I've ran both and cleaned up some things (although, it seems to have done the same thing as CCleaner.) I'll see if it has fixed the hanging issue and report back.

Still no luck. Seems even worse now for some reason. Getting to this page it hung 2 or 3 times for at least 20 seconds each hang.

What I did notice, though, when the computer hangs... it's normally happens when I'm using Google Chrome. I only use Google Chrome, so I'm not sure if this is the issue... but when it does hang, Google Chrome waits for "AppCache" and "Cache" -- I don't know if this means anything as even photos don't open... aka the entire system hangs and not just Google Chrome.. but could Google Chrome be causing this issue?
