Hey all, I'm currently building a HTPC with some extra parts I have, and I am lost with what GPU to get.
What I want is something that plays movies (Blu Ray & DVD) and video files (Avi, mp4) and I would like to do some lower end gaming too.
My priority is video quality and not so much gaming, so I don't need anything high end, also I lean toward Nvidias Cards.

What I currently have is..

Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0
AMD FX-6300
DDR-2 1600 (I believe too lazy to dig out)
(ordered) Silverstone LC10B-E
(will connect to)Sony KDL40W600B 40-Inch 1080p 60Hz Smart LED TV

I know it's overkill, but want to do something with the parts I have...

also I would need a quiet power supply and recommended wattage, recommendations there would be nice.

Sounds like you want a 750 ti: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487024

It's slightly overkill, but it's only $150 and will play games about as well as an Xbox One for when you want to play games. Everything else will be no sweat for this card.

As for PSU, just get anything by a good brand that has around 300 watts. Here is a list (avoid the skinny ones): http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007657%2050001697%2050001402%2050002031%20600014043%20600014044%20600014047%20600014051%20600014054%204027%204026%204017&IsNodeId=1&Pagesize=60
