the asua M-board i have says eatx connection for CPU and my power supply has atx. the sqare and half moon slots dont jive

i have an asus x87-a MB. THe 8 pin CPU connection is plain to see and it says EATX connection. I have a new power supply and the atx 8 pin (2x4) sqares and half moons don't add up on the second part. The first is oriented correctly. The 2nd set has all half moons. Red CPU light comes on if I use the first one only and the 2 combined and the grounds are all on the one side and the 12v on the other

They should fit. Sure you're using the right connector? What make and model power supply?
