Something very weird is happening with this old system i have. It an old, probably around 7-8 year old pc, still alive and kicking. The problem Im having with it is the fact that it's CPU fan spins up to what sounds like maximum RPM for a second or two, and turns off. After a few moments, it spins back up to an idle speed, and remains constant for 2 minutes. No display is output, and no peripherals (keyboard, mouse, network adapter, etc.) seem to power up either. This happens every night, and while I only have one time logged at the moment (3:00 am on the dot) it seems to happen around that time, everytime. Any idea on what this might be? Only specs I can provide at the moment is that the system is amd powered (CPU) and is running vista (sisters computer, refuses to install anything else no matter what I tell her) not much to go on, but any help would be appreciated! Thx

Solution
Go into your BIOS and into your control panel power options and make sure everything related to "wake on", whether it be network, mouse, keyboard or anything else related to "wake", is disabled.

That, and you might want to install a new power supply. Those are the only two things that come to mind.
