so i used to use an i5-750, powercolor HD 5750, 4gb ram, antec 200 case. my pc just died... it's either the motherboard or the cpu but i cant test either without another spare mobo or cpu with the correct socket.

so i decided it's time to upgrade. my pc that just died let me play the altest games on medium settings so it wasn't all that bad for an old pc.

this is the new build i am thinking of and i need to know what you guys think of it for the future.

now at first i was going to go with the i5-4690k but on amazon it's 235 bucks and here in aussie it's 280 bucks. so i thought the fx-8350 would be alright seeing as its almost a hundred bucks cheaper.

and if i bought the 4690k, i would have to go for an intel board. it would need a blue color scheme and the only decent blue schemed boards are the asrock z97 extreme 4 and 6 boards which are around 160 - 220 bucks here in australia (since amazon doesn't ship the extreme 4 and 6 outside the states). so the 4690k and the mobo would cost me upwards of 450 dollars alone. which is why i am now leaning more towards the fx-8350 which is almost 100 bucks cheaper than the 4690k and the motherboard is around 140 bucks.

now im building this pc to game at 1080p. if i can play anything that comes out on ultra for the next 2 years then every thing on high for another 2 years and then everything on medium for another 2 years? that would be fine for me. it would be money well spent.

is this possible? or am i trying to get too much by spending too little?

thanks in advance :) cheers.

ps: i was also thinking maybe instead of the fx-8350 maybe getting an apu that was released this year which would be less than 200 bucks. then disable the onboard gpu and use the gtx 970 for dedicated graphics. the apu is in case my gpu fries, some thing as a back up to use. any thoughts?

You only need a 500 watt psu to run that , so you have some headroom even with the unit you have

But IMO get
4690K
Z97 chipset board
CM Hyper 212 cpu cooler
Avoid the fury RAM CL10 is hopeless . Lower is better , just make sure its rated for 1.5 volts
If you use a board with an M.2 slot then one of the samsunf drives is faster than an SSD and not much more expensive

getting the 4690k and the extreme4 board would bump up the price by about 150 bucks. is the bump of price worth it? for the performance you get? if so il'l probs go back to the 4690k build.

and thank you for the reply good sir.

also how would this memory go? its gskil ripjaws. cl8 i think cl and cas latency are both the same possibly? http://www.amazon.com/G-SKILL-Ripjaws-1600MHz-PC3-12800-F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM/dp/B004KY719A/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1420280616&sr=8-2&keywords=G.Skill+Ripjaws+X+Series+8gb
