¿Is a gaming pc worth it if i'll only take advantage of it's full potential for only 5 years?

I was planning to buy a gaming pc with an i5 4690k, gtx 970, etc. (Also i have to buy a monitor, peripherals and a chair). My question is if it is worth it because after high school i'll rarely use it for gaming.

er, that's really up to you. 5 years is a long time, you can get a lot of gaming done. In the next 5 years, computers will change a lot. This gaming desktop will be ancient by then. Almost. :p It'll be a new era of optic computing, I think. 2020.

ANYWAY, do get a gaming PC now or just go with a console.
