Hi all,

Have just built myself a new rig and having an annoying set up issue i can't figure out.

SITUATION:
have a soundblaster z card installed in the PCI-E slot 1. I have connected the front panel of my case to the soundcard so that i can use the headphone/microphone jacks during late night use. On board mobo sound has been disabled in the BIOS.
Currently the 'quality' of the sound i am getting when headphones are plugged intot the headphone jack are pretty poor and the L/R channels are 'merged' (when running a speaker test I get the test voice/noise in both earphones when it should be just left/right channel).
When i connect the headphones directly into the card at the back, the sound quality is perfect and L/R channels work correctly.

For brief moments the front jack seems to work, tho i cannot fathom what produced that effect. Anyone else expierenced this issue, or does anyone have any suggestions how i might resolve the problem?

Setup:
OS: Win 7
MOBO: Asus Z97 intel i5 processor (bios flashed to latest from ASUS)

Thanks in advance

That module was an optional extra - but would essentially serve the same purpose potentially. Seems like it's an unecessary expense however if i can get my current case to work with the card
