Need help with SATA connections

I am in the middle of building a PC and am connecting my SATA devices. The motherboard manual doesn't help much in regards of which SATA ports work best. I need to install an HDD and ODD. I have an asus Maximus vii hero motherboard.

I had read that was correct but the data ports are label g1-g6 and e1 and e2
