Hey there folks, long time reader but only just registered as I need some of your skills!

So I have built myself a PC for the first time (quite sucessfully I might add shamelessly :p) and now it's time to upgrade!

I'm planning to slap in a new GPU and some additional fans so what I need to find out is how much (additional) power I will need to power those suckers and perhaps a little buying advice from you if it isn't too much of a bother :)

This is what I am using the PC for (in descending order):
  • Networking and Research
    Photo- and Videoediting
Gaming (Racing Sim's mainly and a little Fallout here and there)
Tedious office tasks we all hate
    Watching movies

This is the current setup:
  • 3.9GHz AMD A6-6400K FM2+ APU (4.2GHz overclock)
    1TB Western Digital Green WD10EZRX 64MB 3.5" SATA HDD
    MSI A55M-E33 AMD A55 FM2+ Mainboard
    LiteOn IHAS124-04 DVD-RW Drive
    (2x) 4GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3-1333 DIMM CL9 Single RAM
    Corsair CX430 Non-Modular 80+ Bronze Power Supply
..sitting neatly in a Fractal Core 1000 case (which has one 120mm fan built in up front et space for a 120mm side- and 92mm rear-fan) & running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Also, this is all hooked up to a Samsung 32" LED TV.

I really need the graphics card for running Photoshop and Vegas smoothly on one hand and on the other to let me play some more recent racing games/rid my sight from the eye cancer I keep getting from looking at low graphic settings in my games. :pt1cable:

I have absolutely no clue which graphics card I should get as the market seems so oversaturated, and when it comes to games I only really play racing simulators, which don't have as many dynamic objects etc. in comparison to complex MMO's and Shooters. I think so anyway, and I'm probably wrong. Does it matter anyway? Who knows... Oh right, you do! :)

Soooooo.. Yeah I have trouble getting to the point, sorry about that and thanks a lot in advance for your comments, I hope to learn a lot from this thread. :D

Best Regards,

kas'

your cpu is sorta a low power dual core, so you will be limited by the cpu as well. I would suggest you look into a gtx750ti, that will work with your current power supply as well as the extra fans.

Thanks a lot for the replies so far folks, much appreciated!

I have just looked into the card you have mentioned, however it is a double-slot card, whereas my micro-atx board only has one slot. Perhaps I should have mentioned that in the specs, sorry!!

I would've definately taken the card judging by the specs, but you definately helped me out as I now know what kind I need to look out for, so many thanks for that!
