ok, so as the title states, im wondering what the difference (if any) there is between a Z87, and a Z97 mother board.
the Z87 mother board im looking at is ans asus Z87-WS ( http://www.microcenter.com/product/415469/Z87-WS_Socket_LGA_1150_ATX_Intel_Motherboard )

and the Z97 board is an asus maxumus 7 ( http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.aspx?sku=254029 )

im looking to use on of these in my next build, not sure which one is of better value. both have the features i need/want, but one has more of one feature that i want, while the other has more a different feature that i want. i hope that some one has experience with at lest one of these boards, and can help me out.

thanks in advance.

With a Z87 board, you probably will have to update the BIOS to support Devil's Canyon processors (if it's even an option) and Z87 also lacks M.2 and SATA Express support and also won't support Broadwell processors, but other than that, there's no difference as far as I'm aware, just look for the features you want if you don't need any of the extras you get with Z97.

ok, thats what i was interested in. i had thought that there was some specific difference between the 2, but wasn't sure what it was or where to look. i did know about the bios update for devils canyon chip, and i was looking to go to braodwell if intel released another non-server 6 core hyper threaded 1150 chip (there was one i thought i heard of, now i cant find it). so this will work, the Z97 will work once broadwell comes out, and its actually cheaper than the Z87, which i why i was asking about the difference in the first place.
