Good $550 Pc Build ?

Id like to know if this is a good $ 550 pc build . Im on a strick budget, so i really hope this is good . I would like to overclock both graphic card and cpu .

The parts are :

Motherboard : Gigabyte GA-970A-Ud3P

Power Supply : EVGA 500W 80PLUS Certified ATX12V/EPS12V Power Supply

CPU : AMD Fx-6300

Graphics Card : MSI Radeon HD 7850 Twin Frozr 2Gb

RAM : Kingston HyperX FURY 8GB (2x4GB) 1866MHz DDR3 CL10

HDD : WD Blue 1 Tb Hard Drive, 7200RPM

Case : Rosewill Redbone U3

I would get an i3 for sure. Better than the 6300 in games and has a real upgrade path.

Get an i3 4xxx and an h97 motherboard.

Isnt The Fx 6300 Better For Ocing ?

You cannot overclock the i3 because it is locked. But even an overclocked 6300 still loses to an i3 in most games.

I was watching some benchmarks with the i3 4150 (closest priced i3 to the fx 6300 ) vs the fx 6300
and they were pretty much even in performance in most scenarios .

But the i3 is not on a dead socket like the 6300 is. It is completely pointless to buy the 6300.

For gaming, value, upgrade ability, stability the i3 is the clear choice.

But The Fx 6300 uses the am3+ socket which can easily be upgraded to something like a fx 9590 .

But what would be a good motherboard for the 4150 for about the same price as the UD3P

ANy H97 chipset board is what you would want.

Also you would never upgrade to that mess of a CPU. It is not even meant for the consumer market. It was a "told you we would". It runs hot and is only compatible with 3 motherboards. Not to mention all the AM3 CPUs are based on 4 year old architecture anyway.

The am3+ socket is dead. The 1150 socket is getting a new generation of CPUs. Simple as that. IT is the best choice.

The GPU is a generation old. Try to get an r9 270 instead. If not, it will work.

Would a pentium g3258 be better to use than an i3 ?

The 270 is like 15% better or so.

No. I would get the i3. Even a VERY overclocked Pentium cannot compete with the i3 in CPU intense games.

Yep, the i3 will play games like Thief and watchdogs, where the Pentium stutters so bad they are unplayable.
