I have had a issue going on with my computer for a year and a half now off and on. I ended up taking my video card out because it only tends to do it in my computer when i have an after market video card in the pci slot. (I've tried multiple different video cards.) The problem that occurs usually happens when i am gaming about 5 minutes after i've booted it up. I will be mid game and the video will freeze. Instinct kicks in and i try and alt tab out of the current program being WOW or SC even some video's causes it to freeze. It will not tab out and often i can hear sound in the background so it sounds like only the video is having issues. I can not find anything in forums etc that matches my situation exactly. I have just recently scanned for malware. ETC with three different programs. Cleaned it all up, I've regulated and checked temperatures, Swapped out my mother board, swapped out my video card, swapped out my Processor even. The ram is not the issue i am running 8 gigs of ram. my video card is an hd7770, and i have a 3.4 ghz quad i5. My power supply is my next guess but its pretty hefty its a 750 watt power supply. I just dont know how to trouble shoot it and locate the issue. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

p.s. No problem occurs when i have only integrated graphics or in other words when i have no video card in the machine thats half decent.

Mate, you have two options, download and update all motherboard, GPU, CPU, PCI card drivers, and if the problem persists, a simple windows install may be in order, store all your files on a flash drive or on the cloud and re-install windows.
You might also have an issue with your 7770 and if that is the problem, unfortunately you might not be able to do anything about it, and buying a new card might be in order. The equivalent card BTW is probably an R7 260.

Nothing i have not tried but i will do it again to start fresh just stay with me and help me fix this every step along the way when ever you have time. I will let you all know if the problem persists.

It is not the card, Because the card works in my brothers computer and other cards also do not work in my computer.

What is the most effective way to update all drivers? Looking for a free driver scan and driver fetch software possibly?

First of all post complete and detailed specs uncluding PSU and motherboard make and model.

These forums are free and no money should be exchanged for basic troubleshooting. We're just here to help.

Also the 7770 is equivalent to a 250X as its the same card rebranded.

Windows update, then just take a look at AMD's site for the most recent drivers, and your motherboard manufacturer's website for your model. For an AIO utility you are on your own for that one, I run a Mac so I can't really help on that front.

please post all the parts in the pc. could be any number of hardware issues including the motherboard itself being the problem due to an incompatibility.

then we can start running down some ideas. a fresh windows install is not a bad idea to start with. this will eliminate any conflicting drivers from all the parts you have been switching in and out and will only install what is needed for the system as you intend it to run.

I'm with him, that seems a crap "no name" brand PSU and is probably capping out due to weak internal components. At least get the one he is talking about.

Slightly overkill, you can buy a 500W one and it will work just as fine for $30 less
