I have an Alienware Aurora R4 from about 3 years ago. It is an x79 Board with a 3930k processor. As far as I know EVERY x79 mobo is capable of quad channel 2133 mhz ram. Being that it is Alienware I do understand that sometimes all specs arent viable, but based on x79 and 3930k I should have no problem with 2133 mhz ram yes?

I received the quad kit yesterday after some tampering I could get it to work @ 1866 with no trouble. Realized it just wouldn't boot with XMP enabled. I also had to set the timings to manual and input all that correctly. So yeah it registers under quad channel and all but I can't get it to boot past 1866. I seen there was 9 DRAM Frequency option that started out at 600 or 800 mhz and 1866 is at frequency 7 so I was guessing 2133 was at the 8th setting but no boot when i choose 8 or 9th frequency but all below that boot no prob. I'm not sure if there is something else that would have to be manipulated but until I can get more info I'm gonna settle with 1866. I have read some posts where ppl are running the quad 2133 but it's other brands whereas people using corsair seemed to have no luck hitting the 2133 setting.

Yeah I considered I would have to change something. Just changing the timings and other stuff was new for me so not sure of where to even start going the route of upping the cpu. Other concerns are the factory overclock, I've tampered with it some with not great results, having to reset cmos to boot a million times but I guess I just ended to read into some more. I see the "Core Voltage" in CPUZ listed at 1.336 if that's any relation.

I see on the screen with the ram info it lists JDEC 1-3 then XMP with 1066 so that would be the 2133 setting I assume. But JDEC #2 is 533 so 533x4 is 2133 also so yeah, I'm underknowledged lol.

It seems when I enable XMP in bios the computer wont boot with this ram. Then i hav eto rest bios and pop in the old ram to reset all the timings and put the new ram in again.

well it was already oc'd to 3.8 from 3.2 that second screenshot showed the multiplier at 38 and speed at 3799.11 I can try higher. I'll also look into the voltage you were talking about.
