Questionable temperature readings

Hey guys, just finished a new build and was doing the usual internal checkups using Open Hardware Monitor and noticed these strange temp readings from a Nuvoton chipset (Temp #3, 4 and 6 are over a 100C!) . After a bit of googling I noticed a few others also have the same if not similar problems with this chipset reading using other temperature monitors such as HWinfo. I myself tried other software (RealTemp) to verify these reading but found that it didnt measure temps from the Nuvoton chipset.

So, what do? The general consensus is that it may be faulty temp readings and to ignore it but I just wanted a community opinion of anyone knows what is going on here.

I don't recommend using Speedfan. It ultimately ends up causing more issues that it corrects. Especially on laptops. More often than not, it doesn't read accurately, won't interact properly with many sensors and leaves garbage settings behind when you uninstall it. I've literally seen more than fifty cases, myself, where the entire OS needed to be reinstalled due to corruption of the registry by speedfan.

It was ok bad in the day, but nowadays there is no need to use it. UEFI bios fan controls and aftermarket controllers don't need that kind of utility screwing with the settings. And laptops rarely have the correct wiring for software control independent of the BIOS anyhow, so on those it's usually pointless.

Thanks for the info.

But it's only showing CPU temps which is not what I am worrying about. Core temp doesnt seem to measure the thing I am concerned about. Sorry, this was the Core temp data. Cant seem to measure the Nuvoton with it, do I just ignore it then?

Run HWinfo. The link is above. Not sure what you're trying to see though but any available sensors will be there in HWinfo. Install it and then check the sensors box. Uncheck any other boxes and click ok.

If you're just trying to see the motherboard chipset sensors, they will be present in the HWinfo sensors window.

CPU = Intel 5820K,
Cooler = Corasir H105 watercooler
Ambient Temp = 28.4C
Mobo = Rampage V
GPU = GTX 980 SLI (EVGA)
PSU= Corsair CS850M (850W)

Guys,

SpeedFan is not for the squeamish. You need to read the online help, as well as the .chm file in it's program group. It's difficult to configure properly, but once it's set up correctly, it's sweet. I've used it for many years, but I will admit that I've had to edit my registry on one occasion to clean up a configuration debacle, as darkbreeze mentioned.

Nevertheless, on certain Super I/O chips it reads unassigned inputs as "Aux" or "TMPIN?" 127 or 128 or some unrealistic value, which can be easily unchecked in the configurations. Known issues, but not a problem. Just uncheck the false inputs and ignore them.

What up Comp? Happy New Year bud! I hate speed fan. Heh. But that's just me. I know it's a decent utility for those with the perspicacity to configure and discern the sensor info, but that's not the majority of mainstream users which is why I don't recommend it. Mostly they just end up making a mess of things, which then have to be cleaned up, when possible. I guess it's just a peeve of mine after having encountered so many crapped up systems.

Thanks. Just needed a double check that I am not actually boiling water anywhere near my mobo
