Hi all! I am building a gaming PC for a friend. He has been playing on a laptop for some time now and he wishes to upgrade. Here are the parts I recommended. Keep in mind that we live in Australia and prices vary hugely from the US.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690 @ $275
GFX: ASUS Geforce GTX 760 2GB DirectCU II @ $250
HDD: (No SSD's here, too far out of the budget, plus always upgradeble) Western Digital 1TB 7200RPM @ $65
RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 1866MHz 2 x 4GB Kit @ $95
MBO: ASRock H97 Performance @ $125
PSU: Corsair VS550W @ $65
Case: Corsair Carbide SPEC-03 @ $79
Optical Drive: Samsung SATA DVD RW Drive @ $18
Extra Fan: (case comes with 2) BitFenix Spectre 120mm Red LED Fan @ $12
OS: Windows 7 64-Bit Home Premium @ $112
Wi-Fi PCI Card TP-Link 150MBps 802.11n @ $13

Overall Price ~$1200

Peripherals are already bought so need to worry about them. What do you guys and girls think? A good system all round or something that needs to change? Keep in mind this is Australia and prices are different here.

In the U.S. 95 for 8GB of RAM is a lot of money. 70-80 is more reasonable. Anything cheaper out in Australia? G.Skill is a good brand. Not sure about prices there though.

1866MHz RAM is absolutely unnecessary.
Just get a more affordable 1600MHz one.

Also, as important as a good MB is, I really think you should get a more affordable one and use the spare money + (some extra if needed) to get that SSD. Trust me, you'll thank me later.
It's just so much better than a HDD. You can get a 120GB one for pretty cheap these days.
Or if you can't squeeze the money for that then get a hybrid one.

2133 is oft cheaper than 1600 ....

Cheapest set of 2 x 4GB in Australia is $89 and comes w/o heat sinks

2nd cheapest is the set he picked

Be aware that with windows over time growing to 60 - 85 GB w/ "common files" from programs which don't go along with the program ya put on the HD, game foot prints running 30- 40GB you don't fit many games on a SSD and anything not on that SSD gets 0 benefit from having one.
