opinion about my new HDD

Hi guys
my old HDD seagate barracuda 500gb 7200.12 sata II died so i want to buy i new one for gaming my specs
GPU: GTX 750 2gb gddr5
CPU:core 2 quad q8300 2.5GHZ
RAM:4gb DDR2
MOBO: asrock g31m-s r2.0 http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/G31M-S%20R2.0/
i was planning to buy new motherboard and cpu but when my HDD died i cant even run my PC

SATA 3 (6 Gb/s)
if this HDD is more powerful than my old HDD and it will run games ike or better then my old HDD please help me also remember that my MOBO support SATA2 and thank you

Yes you can use it. SATA I/II/III refer to the max speed of the interface but are ALWAYS backwards compatible. Also harddrives usually cannot exceed the SATA I spec so labeling them SATA III is mostly a marketing gimic.

Bottom line yes you can use it. it should be a 7200 RPM drive. Should be reasonably reliable. I would recommend a westerern digital black if that is an option for you. But a blue should be ok

i will buy the blue one cause as you can see my mobo is ddr2 and dont support the new gen of CPU so i will buy the HDD and when get money i will buy the new mobo and rams and CPU.thank you anyway
