Hi
I'm building my new PC with 2x8 GBs of 2133 RAM for audio production , today I found out that i7 CPUs only support up to 1600mhz memory bandwidth and this leaves me with two questions :
1-does this extra 533mhz make any difference at all? does it worth the extra price?
2-so regardless of how much bandwith your RAM has , most powerful haswells are gonna let you use only 1600mhz of it?

You do not need extra power or cooling for XMP. Intel says 1600 because that is what the onboard CPU memory controller is rated for. You are technically overclocking the memory controller to run the RAM at higher than speced frequencies. I would not pay for higher than 1600 memory as the speed increase adds very very little performance. but that is just me

They only say that meaning that all RAM is essencialy 1333 or 1600mhz... Anything above that is purely overclocked memory. But the memory-controller in that i7 should be able to handle up to 3200mhz if I`m not mistaken. Dont look at the rating they give on their site... Just get a MB that is XMP capable and your all good. You can run 2133 easy... Enjoy!

That Asus Z97M-Plus does support XMP so you`ll be fine!
