How to fresh install SSD without an internal CD on W530 Laptop

I have read the prior posts and have learned a great deal, but I am missing something in regards to my exact situation. I have a Lenovo W530 laptop (Windows 7) with a 128 SSD and a 500GB HD, and I am running out of space on both. TheW530 has the 500GB located in the side bay, and accordingly the laptop does not have an optical drive internally installed. I have an external optical drive installed on which I have made a set of recovery discs.

I have purchased an Intel 730 SSD (240GB) and a HGST HD (1TB) as replacements. The Intel 730 comes with a small CD with instructions to download the Intel SSD Toolbox software. Both new drives physically fit into the 530, but when installed the Lenovo recognizes both new drives. It lists both new units and a third item (pci lan iba ge slot 00c8 v1550) as bootable devices. My external CD player is not recognized (no drivers and not internal).

I realize that I could image the original 128 SSD onto the new 240 GB SSD, but I would prefer a fresh install (also avoiding any problems with the new SSD appearing to be 120 GB instead of 240 GB). I have several questions in my mind, and I am also concerned about the additional questions that I am not smart of enough to ask:
1. I am unsure if I have to install the and run the Intel SSD Toolbox software as the first step. If so, how do I do best do this?
2. I have recovery discs (CD’s) made (but they are almost 2 years old , so Windows will need updates)
3. I have unused Windows 8 upgrade software, which I prefer to not use. Lenovo installed Windows 7 but they did not place a Window 7 sticker on the bottom of the unit with the code.

It is now clear that I lack the knowledge and a strategy for executing this ( I have replaced HHD’s before, but this is not so simple). I will appreciate any and all guidance, even if it is to find a tech.

That is actually required, per MS licensing. It should be there.
However, you can discover the existing Windows 7 key via MagicalJellyBean or Belarc Advisor.

Which OS are you installing? 7 or 8? Either way, there will be numerous updates.

1. The Intel Toolbox can wait. It's primarily used to update the SSD firmware and do a secure erase (which you don't need since the SSD is new).
2. I guess you could get an external DVD drive (USB) and try the recovery discs;
3. The easiest way to reinstall Win 7 would be to create a bootable USB drive with Win 7 on it, but you'll need a Windows 7 media disc to do that. You'll also need to find your Win 7 Key as the first responder suggested in order to activate the install. . Possibly borrow a Win 7 disc to create the flash drive?
I would also suggest removing the HDD until you get Windows installed on the SSD.

You can download the relevant Windows 7 ISO from here:
http://www.w7forums.com/threads/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-image-downloads.12325/

Burn to DVD and install as needed.

Thank you for reading and responding:
1. I now understand that the Intel SSD Toolbox is a secondary issue. Thanks
2. I have tried using my external CD/DVD to load the recovery disks (three (3) Recovery Discs, and one (1) Emergency Boot Disc), but the "blank" laptop does not recognize the external CD/DVD drive.
3. I have located the Windows Key (inside battery compartment), but I do not have a Windows 7 Pro 64Bit disc (I have an old 32bit W7Pro disc).
4. I followed your advice about removing the HDD

I now see the CD/DVD unit on the Boot Menu (USB CD: ASUS SDRW-08D2S-U) but it does not do anything when I select it... screen just refreshes.

I tried using Emergency Boot Disc and the laptop and drive are now responding. It appears that I am on my way.... This was MY Error: I have owned HP's in the past, and the Recovery Discs (3) have always been self bootable, and have included a Diagnostics Disc. It appears that the Lenova has Recovery Discs that are not bootable and the Emergency Disc starts the process. I should have researched the Lenovo site more diligently. I am sorry to have wasted your time, but I certainly appreciate all the help.
