Hi iwas just looking to upgrade my gpu and i was thinking about getting hte ASUS GTX 970STRIX but i was just wondering how well its performs in games like Far Cry 4 especially now with the pick a game Nvidia thing thats going on and is the Fps smooth ? And whats the benchmarks on ultra and very high because my old gpu was not smooth at all when the games was up at like 80 fps it still did not feel smooth does the GTX 970 feel smooth like for example watching a youtube video in 60 fps THANKS !! SPECS:
GPU: sapphire amd readon 7850
CPU: i53570k
MOBO: Asus P8Z77V-LX
PSU Corsiar TX650
MONITOR: Eizo 1080p (monitor supports G-sync)
Case Fractal Design Core 3000 usb 3.0

Solution
Remember youtube is 30fps not 60. Comparing a video to gameplay is pointless because they work in completely different ways. A game will have dips and spikes as the FPS fluctuate. This is what causes the non-smoothness people talk about. IT is called minimum FPS. The minimum FPS number is related to how bad the fps dip even for .01 seconds. A video locks itself at a fps and you never see dips or spikes so a 30fps video will ALWAYS be MUCH smoother than playing any game at 30fps. Just how it works.

A 970 will deliver as smooth gameplay as the drivers and your other hardware will let it. You have a very good CPU, so your minimum frame rates will be higher than if you had a worse CPU. Remember that FPS starts with the CPU, NOT the GPU...

You can look at the performance here: http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-970/performance.

Your system will easily run a 970 smoothly in pretty much any game. But again, smoothness is not really a function of the GPU, but the CPU and minimum framerates.

Can i just ask you one question how low should i take the graphics quality to get the smoothest gameplay possible without destroying the visula experience i mean i still wanna keep it at high settings at such if you get me ?

I do whatever it takes to play locked at 60fps. Turn on Vsync and start messing with settings until you can play at 60fps with no drops. This will give the smoothest play. I would MUCH MUCH rather play at high at 60fps than ultra and be bouncing around between 30-50fps. MUCH more enjoyable.
