Currently I just purchased my 4690k + msi z97 gaming 5 and now I am saving up for a gtx 970. My concern is , would my evga 500b be sufficient enough to power my system? Or should I get a better power supply? My 4690k is stock also.

i5-4690k TDP is 88W
GTX 970 (depending on maker) is 145ish
Rest of system 100W
Overhead 150W
Total recommended: 483W

So your PSU is just the right size. Ideally it is the B2 not the B1 version. If it is the B1 you'll be fine as long as you're not overclocking. The B1 PSU can cause an overclock to be unstable when stressed as they used some cheaper capacitors in it compared to the B2.
