Hey all im a PC noob and would appreciate some help.

I bought 2 Radeon 290x asus cards and my mother board asrock z97x fatality killer is meant to support crossfire.

Both cards in I have installed latest drivers my screens are up but I don't see any crossfirex options in 3d settings. I tried googling and youtubing cant find anything.
I tried adding a game into a new profile under (gaming > 3d settings > Add) but that didn't give me anymore options.

I have CPU-z and I do see 2 drop downs options for video cards so I think both are being detected.

Is there an option to enable crossfirex or is it AutoDetect?

stressed out ): not sure what to do

Solution
I wouldn't say it is the only option, but the 295x2 really is better from personal experience. 2 of your current cards in the size of 1, but you may have to upgrade your GPU if you're under 1000w. I have 2 of them and I can play my games 4k@ultra, like FC4 and BF4, very nice graphics if you wanna go up to 4k :)

How long ago did you buy these? Maybe you can return them and get a 295x2 instead. It's much better, but I can't exactly answer your question because the 295x2 is the only card I have for multi GPUs, so I've never had a bridged CFX/SLI, but there is a crossfire option in there and you have to enable it.

They should have came with your mobo or GPU, you'll need to connect them if you haven't already. If your GPUs are out of 30 days of return, then maybe you can sell them and get the 295x2 instead with doesn't require a bridge and has installed liquid cooling. So far they work perfectly with the new Omega driver, I haven't had one crash yet.

yeah I read that it doesn't use a bridge. It should be capable of crossfire but I just don't see it in driver options

That short ago? I think you should ditch the lower cards and get the 295x2, lol. The only issue you might have is the display ports with it, Omega driver works perfectly with it. It'll be faster, cooler, and no need to tweak with crossfire, it is already crossfire enabled.

yeah can try but is that really the only option =/

someone fixed it with this.

thoughts?

"I just got it working today. Steps I took:

Make sure EPI and TPI switches are set to Default (off) mode on the motherboard.

Make sure Both video cards are in "Quiet" BIOS Mode. (the switch towards the back of the card, can be changed later)

Make sure Both video card have 2 PCI-E power cables to each card (4 total). The cables I have have two connectors each, but they may not have been able to deliver the power needed with 1 cable.

Driver sweeper (safe mode) and install latest (non-beta) drivers with ONE CARD ONLY installed (this step may be unnecessary).

Driver sweeper (safe mode) and install latest drivers with BOTH CARDS.

After all of this, the CCC automatically turned on CrossfireX when taking me to the configuration page."
