Currently i am able to play gta iv pretty well. When i set everything to very high and to 100,i get around 25 fps..Currently i have set the settings in such a way that i get around 30 fps which is pretty smooth(everything is high and draw distance reduced to 32).
So can i expect to run gta v on medium settings..I have a 1 gb nvidia card..(Sorry i cant share the name).
So by these infos, can i expect to run it in medium settings..
I am runnings windows 8.1..

GTAIV is a fairly unoptimized port. Try a more recent Rockstar game, i.e. Max Payne 3. The same team that ported that game to PC is developing GTAV. If you can run MP3 fine, you should be okay.

Why can't you share the name of your GPU? You can look it up in the Nvidia Control Panel or Device Manager.

GTAV official requirements have not been released yet so it's hard to say. You may want a new card with more VRAM though.

There are a lot of cards that are 1 GB Vram and can do what you say in GTAIV.

Knowing the card would give a better idea, but likely you'll be playing with low to medium settings on a 1 GB card.. Hopefully you will get better performance but its hard to say without official requirements from Rockstar.

He's got 25 FPS with everything maxed out. Even on most current gen graphics cards (mostly because current GPU vendors are not optimizing for a 6.5 year old game that was poorly optimized to begin with) the game still runs like crap maxed out because of bad resource management. The game handles the large draw distances very poorly.

For some reason he won't look it up, I've asked twice about what it is :p But that's why I suggested Max Payne 3. Can easily be found for $9.99 and will give a good idea of performance, since it's the same team porting it, I can only hope they do as good of a job with GTAV.

That being said, keep in mind the next gen consoles are running GTAV with new graphics features with 8 GB of RAM and ~3GB of VRAM. Granted, both consoles use unified memory architectures instead of the regular RAM and VRAM setups, so the hardware is a bit different, but it does suggest GTAV will need more horsepower than 1 GB VRAM graphics card.

That is not completely true.. I play GTAIV on my GTX980 maxed out, and it feels super smooth (i would say at least 50 fps).

Sorry, you mean your GTX 980 with 4GB VRAM that plays Crysis 3 at 95 FPS and BF4 at 90 FPS on 1080p, plays a 6.5 year old game at only 50 FPS maxed out?

By that logic, my statement is entirely true. It has terrible resource management.
