How can I completely erase my window7 and reinstall?

If I erase and re install window 7 will I be free from all the virus and anything that is harmful?
Also How do I do it? I have the window 7 CD so please teach me.

1. Insert your Windows 7 CD.
2. Turn off your computer.
3. Turn on your computer, press F9 or whichever key your BIOS uses as its boot options menu key.
4. Choose your CD/DVD drive as the boot option
5. Choose to do a clean installation of Windows

during the installation process, when asked where to install Windows, choose to format your primary HDD. This will erase the viruses and all other files from your disk.

Viruses are simply malicious programs, they can be erased using a format.
