My wife and I bought a used computer a couple days ago and so far it seems to be a pretty nice computer. The guy I bought it from did a full reset of the computer so I could start with a clean slate.
Awesome! I get the computer set and realize I'm not able to connect to the internet. I understand i had to buy a wireless network adapter, no big deal.

I bought a Belkin N300 High performance Wi-fi USB adapter. I followed all the installation instructions and it installed without a problem. I plug in the usb and it connects without a problem. I find my network, put the passcode in and it connects perfectly and shows a full connection. Awesome! I needed to update some of my drivers and so i went to internet explorer to begin and I can't connect to the internet?

I have a full connection but cannot access the internet with this USB adapter. I did a network diagnostics and it came back with "Your broadband modem is experiencing connectivity issues."
It then tells me I should restart my router/modem. (by the way i have a Comcast router/modem combo) But everything else I have (Macbook, iPhone, and xbox) connect perfectly! what the heck is going on????

I have spent the last 6-7 hours googling everything from uninstalling/reinstalling drivers, command prompts, i even took my computer into my living room and direct connected to my router. Guess what? It worked perfectly. So I downloaded all my updates while I had it hooked up. Then i thought, okay maybe that fixed it. I unhooked the direct connect, left it where it was and hooked back up the usb. Again, everything worked like it should. I thought, awesome, everything is fixed. I unhooked it and took everything back into my office (one room over) and hooked it all back up. Once it started it showed the same thing as before, full signal but once i clicked on firefox it loaded the main page but wouldn't really load anything else.

Through several of these forums several people said reset your "windsor" through command prompt and reset the ipv4 and ipv6. Did all that and still nothing... I really do not know what else to do.

Help please.

First make sure that it shows enabled in Network adapters. Are you sure that the internal WLAN unit is switched on ? On older laptops there is often a physical switch somewhere on the casing, often on the front edge. On newer ones it is usually toggles on or off by a combination of the Fn key and one of the F1 - F12 keys. Which particular key varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, but it will have some symbol on it that looks vaguely like a wireless transmitter.

None of that worked. I looked for the WLAN unit everywhere. It is a desktop. Im sorry I didn't make that clear earlier. I did the F1-F12 keys and nothing to that either.
