I was wondering if the Asus R9 280x still artifacts because I was considering getting one and I was also wondering if anyone knows if its a driver issue or if i could be fixed by changing the bios?

Solution
It would appear that they do. It's going to be luck of the draw whether you get one that's stable or not. Asus published a BIOS update to address it, but from the various forums, the fix hasn't had universal success. Some folks have been able to "fix" it by downclocking their card and/or upping the voltage, but it seems less than ideal to have to fix a brand new card.

Description R9280X-DC2T-3GD5 VBIOS update
BIOS update to remove rare artifacting events during gaming, Please also update the Catalyst driver to 13.251 or above

I think I would consider an alternative card.
