Just got a new CPU and still lagging

I have a MSI GTX 760 OC 2gb along with a brand new AMD 8320 that I literally just installed. I had a Amd 8100 and got terrible bottleneck lag but could still play CSGO at a decent 150fps. I have played some games such as CSGO which only boosted me up about to 200fps and DayZ which gets TERRIBLE fps still. Can somebody please help and tell me what is wrong thanks

Sorry about that. OP made duplicate threads (2-3) on the same subject. In the first one I replied to he told us his motherboard which was the Gigabyte 78lmt-s2. I believe the OP accidentally looked at the CPU compatible list of a similar motherboard like a 78lmt-s2p or a 78lmt-usb3.

No offense but DayZ is a crap game code wise. I have seen people with i7's and SLI barely manage 30 FPS while a dual core APU and a 550Ti pushes solidly over 40 fps. It's almost like a luck of the draw. How they con people in to paying $30 dollars for a game still in alpha stage is entirely beyond me..

Only 200 FPS ?? How many FPS do you need ? MOAR SCREEN TEAR !!! LOL
Really though, why so much fps needed ?

Ok but that still shouldn't be an excuse for only a 50 fps increase on CSGO

It isn't that I don't have enough FPS, it is that I am not seeing the improvement I should be seeing. I am upset because I waited for a long time to get this CPU and fix my issues and make my FPS increase as the decently powerful GPU I have should not be bottlenecked anymore.

Well my answer for that would be that the actual architectural differences between your old 8100 and your current 8320 are minimal. The are essentially the same CPU's only difference is you 8320 is clocked a bit higher. This is where you are getting your FPS increase. The 2nd gen FX's are slightly improved in IPC and thread handling but not nearly enough to be a night and day difference.

Thank you, I appreciate you being able to answer. Do you anything about why DxDiag says my CPU is clocked at 2.9 when default is 3.5ghz?

If you asked for my opinion I would say that 50fps is a pretty big jump in performance. I would also second that DayZ is a piece of junk game and will run like crap no matter how nice of a computer you have.

I think that you may just be expecting too much from your upgrade.

Is your CPU at 2.9 when you are idling on the desktop, or are you doing something? CPU's downclock themselves when the extra speed is not required. Run a stress test such as prime95 and monitor your cpu speed with CPU-Z. If it does not show it running at the full 3.5ghz while stress testing then you have an entirely different problem on your hands.

It doesn't change it is simply just saying 2.9Ghz on DxDiag

Would you suggest that I overclock it? And will a 500 PSU be enough to overclock?

So I looked at CPU-Z, That as well does say Core Clock Speed is 2.9 Ghz. Which doesn't make sense, the stock clock speed of the 8320 is 3.5 Ghz. This seems to be my problem, what do you suggest I do now?

Is that 2.9 under load ?? The CPU has different multipliers to save power when not under load. However if you have a good load on the CPU and it is not clocking up then you do have a significant problem. Can I have you full system specs please ?

Kind of sounds like your motherboard may need a BIOS update to fully support the 8320. That was common when switching from 1st gen to 2nd gen. The CPU would work but not properly, odd clock speed readings, random crashes blue screens and hangs.

Unless OP owns Revision 1.2 his motherboard nor BIOS supports any type of Vishera CPU. Even the Revision 1.2 motherboard of his model only supports the 95W 8320e version.

Where do you keep seeing what motherboard he has ? As far as I can tell he has not provided that info.
