I am looking to build a gaming PC for my younger brother and what I'm hoping someone can help me with is the right parts. I already have a case, hdd and ram but what I still need is a motherboard, a cpu and a gpu. The idea here is that this will be purely a gaming PC, so all performance should be focused on gaming performance (my brother already has a pc for other things). Any advice would be appreciated.

Budget is $550

Would probably recommend intel 4590 on a h97 motherboard. For GPU I like the GTX 760 or AMD R9 270X which should become mega cheap soon as the new cards come out. That will give you solid gaming performance with parts that cost less than $500 together.

Also don't forget the power supply. I usually recommend whatever you find cheap that covers at least 600w, say $60.
Plus you'll want something to give you an internet connection either slotted in USB or PCI and that will cost $35.

Good luck!
