I just got my GTX 970 and the install went fine. I start Skyrim and it crashes, so i turn off all the mods and that got it to work. The CPU is going to the same temp for skyrim as it did with integrated graphics. That was kinda weird cause i expected, and was told, getting a graphics card with relieve the burden of graphics on the CPU, which would cool it down. I thought "Well at least it isnt overheating." So i play a little and decide to try battlefield 4, which i have optimized with the drivers. it heats up to 90 degrees and almost 100 degrees Celsius. This irritates me cause there is no good reason that should be happening. Please help

CPU: i5 4590 stock cooler
Mobo: Asrock H97M Pro4

P.S: I turned off CPU Boost cause that heated it up more on integrated graphics.

Solution
212 is a well known (but cheap) cooler
stock coolers are adequate, but other factors will influence the result like ambient temp, cable management, heat from gpu, among others.
besides, a better cooler is worth it

You could try downloading Zotac Firestorm and maxing out your fans. I would suggest getting anything other than your stock cooler. If you haven't dusted your fans in some time, that could be an issue as well. If that doesn't work either, you may need some new thermal paste.

is the cooler installed properly, i am not sure (as i really don't even install stock coolers) how good (or bad) the stock cooler is for this cpu.
but a few things, improve the airflow inside the pc, do some cable management.

but the best i can think of is, get a better cpu cooler, it's worth it
