Hey guys I'm a bit concerned because my 5820k idles pretty high but when under heavy load stays fairly cool. I have a corsair h80i cooler. It typically idles around 45-48. With prime 95 running for 2+ hours it typically stayed around 60 degrees and peaked at 71 degrees as the maximum value on the package and one of the cores. At the time of testing it was on 1.25v running at 4.5ghz. I tried backing down the overclock for better temps taking it down to 1.2v at 4.4ghz and the temps didn't change a bit.

So is my idle normal and if it is slightly hotter is it something that I should be concerned with for longevity? I don't plan on upgrading again for another 3-5 years.

Gotcha considering my chip on average under full prime95 load won't really go above 70 and averages 60 while benching I'd say I'm fine then. Thanks for the response.

No problem. :) Select the best answer if you don't mind. Thanks! :)
